Every Inchie Monday - Peanuts

I know I'm really late submitting this week's Every Inchie Monday challenge word Peanuts! What with Easter and having 14 to stay from the Thursday to the Tuesday and doing all the cooking and feeding, plus 7 children I was, to say the least, occupied.  Then 4 of the grandchildren stayed till this weekend as it was holiday time and parents had to work, so today has been my first day to myself.  Also I have to admit that "Peanuts" was a difficult one for me.  I was going to embroider the plant with peanuts growing under the ground but being short of time I opted for a simpler version and one dear to my heart.  Peanuts always remind me of my late father.  He loved eating peanuts and would arm himself with a bag on a Saturday and devour them watching TV, not only that I remember him always chuckling at a newspaper cartoon called Peanuts.  He loved the antics of the little dog called Snoopy and later on actually owned a basset hound whom they called Snoopy.  So what better way than for me to portray Peanuts as the little snoopy dog from the cartoon?  I do hope you all had a great Easter and are not as tired as me!!  Please click the link to view other brilliant inchies.

Every Inchie Monday - Door

Well a hard week to get through for me as I got food poisoning on Sunday night which rather floored me for doing anything for three days as achey and shattered.  However am recovering now and have a house full for Easter so had better be OK!! Just managed to get this done before everyone arrived this evening!  So this week's challenge word for Every Inchie Monday is Door and I'm sure they mean a door to the spaceship, or cupboards or steel doors etc - but I chose to do a fairy door, supposedly in a tree hence the ivy!  I thought it would be easy but actually the sewing was quite tricky as I guess I'm still not feeling totally me!  Anyhow this is how it turned out, thanks for passing by and please catch everybody else's inchies at EIM by clicking the link.

Every Inchie Monday - Island

Today's Monday - today's Monday - Monday is Inchie Day is everybody happy?  You bet your life we are!!  And that's only because the sun was out for the whole weekend!!  And still is!!  Hooray!  And so I incorporated a lovely setting sun in my inchie today for Every Inchie Monday.  What better than a remote island with a setting sun, a red sky and palm trees - I'm sure I'm not the only one to do this scene!  But I really enjoyed doing this one and tried to make the island crescent shaped in keeping with the one in the book!  Have a lovely week - hope being that the sun stays out for the remainder of it! Every Inchie Monday - Spaceship

Firstly thank you for all your lovely concern and well wishes for me to get better.  I am on the mend but just can't seem to get rid of this horrid head cold, but as all things do it will go in the end.  So on to Monday's Every Inchie Challenge and this week it is Spaceship.  I have just finished reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and thoroughly enjoyed it and laughed every time I came to one of the Challenge words yet to come!  It does give things a different perspective however there is no way I could portray the Heart of Gold on a one inch square so I have gone for my own stylised spaceship come rocket really.  I thought he was rather cute and I really enjoyed doing this one,  it could be just a little space hopper craft for Arthur and his new friends to use in the future.  Hope you all had a good weekend and have a good week, please click the link to see other one inch "spaceships".

Every Inchie Monday - Towel

I had two ideas for this Monday's Every Inchie Monday Challenge and couldn't decide, so guess what? - yes I did both - again!!  The first is just a towel on a pole - was wondering how I could achieve that and was imagining beads supporting a wire but then I found this plastic "ribbon" for want of a word with bobbles on so just used the two bobbles either side of the this plastic wire to support a tiny folded towel!

But then I thought it would be fun to portray a towel on a beach - maybe Arthur was sunbathing!  So here's the second "towel"

Every Inchie Monday - Earth

When I first saw this Every Inchie Monday word as the challenge I thought of earth as in soil, then I put earth into Google and loads of images came up of Earth as a globe and I thought "Oh yes! That's probably what is meant because of it being from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (although there was a lot of earth moved in trying to knock down Arthur's House!)  So the problem was how to do Earth as a globe floating in space on an inch in embroidery and try as I would I couldn't make it work so I chickened out and ended up doing earth as in a cross section showing the soil with roots and the grass and sky! 

But then I was fiddling about in my craft room and I came across some dark spotty material and some Moda fabric and part of it really looked like the Earth - so I bit the bullet and did another one!!  Strange one to do two on but there you go!!  Please click the link to see everyone else's fine work and isn't it nice to see the sun again today?  Hooray because I really am fed up with being wet!!

Every Inchie Monday - Beer

Hi everyone - it's Monday again and hooray I have actually managed to finish this week's everyinchiemonday challenge word "beer" inchie on time!  We've been away for the weekend to The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne but the weather was horrid however we had the most amazing sea view rooms with ten foot ceilings and huge so I was very pleased that I took my embroidery bag and was able to sit in the window with natural light and sew my inchie - even if the rain was lashing against it and the sound of the sea crashing against the sand was loud!
